SCHOLASTIC CHESS PROGRAM BENEFITS YOUTH
If you wish information presented to your religious or social organization on a chess program that has been used nation wide to help students do better in school, contact Steve Seegmiller. He reported that in studies of the effectiveness of a scholastic chess program, chess was found to increase achievement in math and English, as well as other scholastic scores. It also improves self esteem, relationship skills and self confidence. Feel free to call Steve at A. G. Edwards-957-8100 if you want to get information on starting a Chess group for youth at your religious organization.

"CARING MORE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE LESS"
We need socks for men and women, toys for the children, new, or used but good toys, books for all ages and jackets, mending supplies, toiletries for men and women, coats & blankets.
If you have donations, you can call 209-477-0703 to arrange van pickup, or you can deliver the items to 545 W. Sonora in Stockton, between 8 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday.
Medical clinic is open daily and dental clinic, three times per week.

THE EMERGENCY SHELTERS' NEEDS
Food items: Canned or dried foods, peanut butter;
Clothing and Personal items for men, women and children;
Furnishings: bedding, bunk and double beds, folding chairs and tables,
towels, microwave ovens
Other items: Office equipment and supplies,
infant and toddler diapers, lawn care tools and supplies books and magazines,
arts and crafts supplies.
Volunteers needed: reading to preschool children, indoor and outdoor
maintenance jobs, picking up and delivering donations, answering phones
and assisting clients.
If you want to donate funds, food, household items, clothing, bedding, furniture,
etc. to the shelters, CALL 467-3612 FOR MORE INFORMATION.
