Our Mission
TOPPS works to fulfill its mission in the following specific ways:
- By organizing and encouraging public involvement and recognition of positive performances in pollution prevention
- By training present and future industry, business, and agricultural owners and managers in pollution prevention methods
- By providing technical and educational assistance to industries, businesses, and agriculturists who wish to decrease their waste stream to the air, water, and land
- By distributing information to industries, businesses, agriculturists, schools, and community organizations
- By promoting pollution prevention community events
- By encouraging voluntary cooperation and participation in pollution prevention endeavors by government agencies, industries, business, agriculture, schools, and the public
Activities and Accomplishments
Solutions for Compliance
Each year since 1994, TOPPS has sponsored "Solutions for Compliance--A Pollution Prevention Workshop". The format and topics of each year's workshops are a direct response to the requests of businesses and industries in San Joaquin County. Speakers from the private and public sectors share practical applications of pollution prevention techniques as well as information and funding resources.
Awards for Environmental Excellence
Each year since 1994, TOPPS has worked with the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors and mayors of incorporated cities to publicly acknowledge the pollution prevention accomplishments of businesses and industries. The awards have been presented to businesses and industries throughout San Joaquin County.Special Events
